For the last two weeks we have been enjoying two rallies in beautiful Dorset. The first one was at Bagwell Farm near Weymouth. Thanks to “Old Mo’s” hard work and organisation we had a great time with lots organised and had the additional benefit of pitching up next to our good friends Kath and Toni.
We were to be in with an extra treat as some of the World War II reenactment people and vehicles were to be camping in the field right next to us. They were there for a reenactment of the D-Day landings down at Weymouth beach.
After a week under Mo’s care most of us on the rally traveled the few miles over to Norden Farm for our next rally who we have Jez and Lyn to thank for. This was to be a special rally for us as this is the first rally we are returning to for the second year. Also Norden Farm is the site we had an unplanned extended stay for last year when I damaged my leg and couldn’t drive for six weeks so the whole event and place was packed with old friends and memories, even all the staff remembered us especially the owner Jonathon who joined us for a drink or two on a couple of evenings just like old times.
During our stay we had our very good friend Martin visit us for the weekend and the choice of week end could not have been better chosen. As not only was it Armed Forces day but The Tank Museum in Bovington was holding its annual Tankfest event of which I was lucky enough to get a couple of the last remaining tickets for Sunday the week before, Saturday was sold out.
So Saturday we took advantage of the Swanage Steam Railway that was running an all steam timetable to take us down to Swanage. After an enjoyable couple of hours we headed back up the line enjoying a beer before stopping off at Corfe Castle for a Cream Tea and to look round the very charming village of Corfe.
We stayed on at Norden for an extra week as we were booked in to have some electrical work to be done the following Monday at vanbitz in Taunton. Which is where we are now sited up for one complementary night at their camp site Cornish Farm Touring Park so we will be ready at 8:30 tomorrow morning.
