I’ve got Gas

Before

Before

We began our trek south today and visited Autogas 2000 Leisure Ltd at Thirsk to have our two Propane gas bottles replaced with two refillable LPG bottles with an outside filling point.

The chap that did our conversion was very friendly and did the job in an hour. He then took me over to where they have a gas pump and showed me how to fill the tanks.

The cost to fill both tanks from empty was just £14.40 which is quite a saving from £21.99 X 2 for the Calor bottles and thats if you buy direct from them. Anywhere else will have an additional mark up.

The cost to have the system fitted was £455 so it will take just 15 complete fill ups to recoup my initial outlay which, I have to be honest, is a lot less than I expected.  The two other reasons for doing this is 1. I don’t have to wait for a bottle to completely empty before I can change it, I can just top it up whenever I get the chance. But mostly 2. finding english calor bottles over on the continent is like looking for pixies at the end of your garden. Your damn sure they are there somewhere but never seem to find them.

Once done we headed to Boroughbridge Camping and Caravanning Club Site for a one night stop.  We found them very welcoming and helpful and since Ann is a blue badge holder we were parked on a very convenient hard standing with full service facilities right next to the amenities block. This gave Ann a chance to catch up with getting two of my onesies washed and dried. Good thing as down to the one I am wearing and there is no way thats coming off until I have another to wear…..
