The long trip back to the UK – Day 3

Having had a good nights sleep we made excellent progress today, crossing the Spanish/French border and travelling up as far a Saintes where we parked up in a free municipal aire.

Just before we crossed the border we had to travel over and through some wonderful mountains and scenery with some dramatic changes in weather. At one point we were in very thick fog and entered a long tunnel through a mountain to appear out the other side in brilliant sunshine and clear skies.

Our main purpose for trying for an aire in a town was to see if we could find a vets so I can get the dogs checked and wormed as per DEFRA’s requirement. As it goes luck would have it there was a vets just down the road and were seen and all sorted straight away for 40 Euros each. So they are now good to enter the UK.

There are a couple of other motorhomes on this aire with us and one looks like he has been here a while and works locally so I guess its a safe place. Either way were not bothered as the girls will stay on guard all night.
